If you want to know what is tg pi/6 radians in terms of trigonometry, then navigate straight to the explanations in the next paragraph; what’s ahead in this section is the value of tg pi/6:

tgpi/6 = √(3)/3
tg pi/6 = √(3)/3
tg pi/6 radians = √(3)/3

The tg of pi/6 radians is √(3)/3, the same as tg of pi/6 radians in degrees. To change pi/6 radians to degrees multiply pi/6 by 180° / $\pi$ = 30°. Tg pi/6 = tg 30 degrees.

Our results of tgpi/6 have been rounded to five decimal places. If you want tangent pi/6 with higher accuracy, then use the calculator below; our tool displays ten decimal places.

To calculate tg pi/6 radians insert the angle pi/6 in decimal notation, but if you want to calculate tg pi/6 in degrees, then you have to press the swap unit button first.

The identities of tangent pi/6 are as follows:

tgpi/6
= ctg (pi/2 – pi/6) = ctg 1/3 pi

-tgpi/6
= tg (-pi/6) = -tg pi/6
= ctg (pi/2 + pi/6) = ctg 2/3 pi
= tg (pi – pi/6) = tg 5/6 pi

Note that tgpi/6 is periodic: tg (pi/6 + n × pi) = tg pi/6, n$\hspace{5px} \in \hspace{5px} \mathbb{Z}$.

There are more formulas for the double angle (2 × pi/6), half angle ((pi/6/2)) as well as the sum, difference and products of two angles such as pi/6 and β.

In terms of the other five trigonometric functions, tg of pi/6 =

  • $\pm\frac{\sin \pi/6}{\sqrt{1 – \sin^{2} \pi/6}}$
  • $\pm\frac{\sqrt{1 – \cos^{2} \pi/6}}{\cos \pi/6}$
  • $\pm \sqrt{\sec^{2} (\pi/6) – 1}$
  • $\pm\frac{1}{\sqrt{\csc^2 (\pi/6) – 1}}$
  • $\frac{1}{ctg \hspace{3px}\pi/6}$

As the cotangent function is the reciprocal of the tangent function, 1 / ctg pi/6 = tgpi/6.

In the next part of this article we discuss the trigonometric significance of tgpi/6, and there you can also learn what the search calculations form in the sidebar is used for.

What is tg Pi/6?

In a triangle which has one angle of pi/2, the tangent of the angle of pi/6 is the ratio of the length of the opposite side o to the length of the adjacent side a: tg pi/6 = o/a.

In a circle with the radius r, the horizontal axis x, and the vertical axis y, pi/6 is the angle formed by the two sides x and r; r moving counterclockwise is the positive angle.

Applying the unit-circle definition found on our homepage, assumed r = 1, in the intersection of the point (x,y) and the circle, y = sin pi/6, x = cos pi/6 and tg pi/6 = sin pi/6/cos pi/6.

Bringing together the triangle definition and the unit circle definition of tangent pi/6, a = x, o = y and h = r = 1. It follows that $y/x\hspace{5px} =\hspace{5px}\frac{opposite}{adjacent}\hspace{5px}=\hspace{5px}tg\hspace{5px} \pi/6$.

Note that you can locate many terms including the tangentpi/6 value using the search form. On mobile devices you can find it by scrolling down. Enter, for instance, value of tgpi/6.

Along the same lines, using the aforementioned form, can you look up terms such as tg pi/6 value, tg pi/6, tgpi/6 value and what is the tg of pi/6 radians, just to name a few.

Given the periodicity of tangent of pi/6, to determine the tangent of an angle > pi, e.g. 25/6 pi, calculate tg 25/6 pi as tg (25/6 pi mod pi) = tangent of pi/6, or look it up with our form.
